Thanks for checking out Last Week on Social, a blog series dedicated to providing a simple way to stay on top of the latest news and announcements from each of the major social media networks.

Every week, we round-up the latest updates from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Vine, YouTube, and others that may impact the way you use social media networks for your business.

For the period of April 11 – 17, here’s a breakdown of news from last week on social:

Facebook’s two-day annual developer conference, F8, was held early in the week.

Day 1 announcements included the live API, bots for Messenger, Facebook Surround 360, profile expression kit, free basics simulator & demographic insights, account kit, Facebook analytics for apps updates, quote sharing, and the save button.

Day 2 was primarily focused on giving updates in long-term focus areas including Facebook’s Connectivity Lab, artificial intelligence, social VR, and the open source community.
